I remember the first time I tested this flavor combination. I stood in my kitchen staring at a jar of poppy seeds and some mango powder. I wondered if I had lost my mind. Spoiler alert: I had not. The final dish tastes absolutely amazing.

You create tender, fall-apart meat with a sauce that hits all the right sweet and savory notes. Does anything sound better than coming home to a house smelling like a five-star meal? Probably not. It beats plain old chicken nuggets, TBH 😅.

Ingredients

  • 500 gm Chicken
  • 1/2 tbsp Mustard Oil
  • 1 tbsp Ginger Garlic paste
  • 2 tbsp Caramalised Onion
  • 1/4 Cup Yoghurt
  • 1 tspn Dry Mango powder
  • 3-4 Fresh Chilli
  • 2 tbsp Poppy Seeds
  • Water

For Temparing:

  • 1/4 tspn Mustard Seeds
  • 1/4 tspn Cumin Seeds
  • 1/4 tspn Fenugreek Seeds
  • 1/4 tspn Nigella Seeds
  • 1/4 tspn Fennel Seeds

Instructions
 

  • Soak poppy seeds in water then blend them into a fine and smooth paste.
  • Set the cooker on saute mode for 5 minutes, I am using Slow cooker with saute function. Once ready add all the dry spices for tempering.
  • Now add ginger garlic paste and sauté for 1 minute then add caramelized onion.
  • Add chicken, yoghur and salt, mix well then cover and cook on High for 3-4 hours.
  • Once chicken is ready add mango powder, poppy seed paste and green chillies.
  • Add a little water if needed then cover and cook for another 30 minutes.
